Love this Wegmans because it is open 24⁄7 and close to home.
Dislike: parking lot during busy hours.

Wegmans oh Wegmans. I’ve never heard so much about a grocery store until moving here. It’s a nice grocery store but at the end of the day it is just that… a grocery store. Everyone talks about Wegmans like you are going to enter one and see something that you cannot find anywhere else. The first thing everyone asks me when they find out I’m from the West Coast is «Omg have you gone to Wegmans.» I was always so confused that everyone wanted me to see this grocery store but now I understand people see it as a tourist attraction here.
It’s a very nice grocery store and the only grocery store that I go to for reasons of convenience. It’s always clean and I’ve never had to wait in a line for more than a few minutes. The wait time is definitely something that I would say is fairly unique to Wegmans along with having many registers open at once. Many grocery stores will have just a few registers open and have long lines. It can get crowded at times and with the narrow aisles it’s not so easy to get through and around people who seem to have no end goal.
I’ve gone to many Wegmans in this area and this East Avenue location is my favorite of them all. It could be because I live in the area and with so many other amenities not being conveniently located here this is one convenience I can count on. The individuals that work here are cordial and appear to really like their jobs or they just have a good poker face. It’s always clean and things aren’t placed around at random. There is a restroom located at the front of the store that has always been well maintained. Parking is insane and I am not really sure why. They actually have cops/security people often directing parking. People seem to forget their driving skills when they come here so watch out.
All in all I am a fan but you cannot count on me bringing out of town visitors here to show them this store like it’s a tourist attraction.

Wegmans is the best grocery store in the country. But they only have a few stores. This is probably why they can run such wonderful stores. No competition except between their own stores. I was a visitor to upstate NY and was told of the wonder’s of Wegmans. I could spend an afternoon browsing, eating lunch, then getting groceries. Please, pretty please, Wegmans, come to the central coast of California!

Good god, what has happened to this location? In the mornings, the only prepared lunch dishes available are 3 to 4 days old! And for the last 5 weeks, each Sunday the dairy case is nearly empty. Last Sunday, I had to go to Tops to find any container of half & half smaller than a full gallon. Who the hell is ordering and/or stocking this place?

You can’t beat Wegmans when it comes to product quality. But then again, there might other establishments that I might not have gone to yet. The price is decent for the quality of products they are providing.
Sign up for the Shoppers Club card, its saves you money. If you forget your card, you can always ask other shoppers behind you in line to use theirs. I’ve never had anyone say no. Or sometimes the cashier will have one. Or if you know someone phone number that have the card, you can just punch in their phone number.
The rotisserie chicken is the deal! For you penny-pincher, you can make that into couple meals. What I like most about Wegmans is that the employees always have a friendly attitude.

I have always been a big fan of WEGMANS and have spoken of this establishment favorably however, my last few visit there have been less than stellar. I always noted the difference between Wegmans and Walmart being the friendly service provided by the former’ staff. Specifically, the welcoming and friendly greetings, allowing customers to pass before they wheel a big cart or just seeming like they love their job. I don’t know what has changed but I am starting to become very disappointed.

It’s great, but mainly because all of the other grocery stores are really bad. The produce is over priced, so I would go to the public market for that. It has great customer service and very well maintained. I don’t get all the hype associated with it, but it’s a great place.

Yes the parking lot is small, and slow to travel through — but in the end I’m always able to park my car within a minute or 2, always pretty close. People seem to loathe this parking as if it’s laced with police-grade spike strips and IED’s — I assure you, there’s nothing to be afraid of. You pull in, park your car, and walk in. The building is sandwiched between 3 VERY busy city streets, surrounded by a huge city population; of course it’s going to be busy and packed all hours of the day. It’s small and cramped inside. It’s a small plot of land they had to build on. It’s really not that bad if you have even the smallest amount of patience.
It’s a clean, well laid out building, with a large selection. The prepared foods and seating area is HUGE. Great to stop by for lunch or dinner.

I shop here regularly for all my grocery needs. They usually have what I need, however the deli counter is pretty hit or miss in terms of thinly sliced meats. Namely ham and roast beef. Since the renovation its a lot better but the aisles are still pretty difficult to navigate (size wise).
Parking is just a straight embarrassment. They have tried to mediate the situation, but it has not done much to help. Avoid Sundays and mondays like the plague if you can help it. Additionally, we have been waiting two months for Ben and Jerry’s Cinnamon Bun ice cream to hit the shelves but we have had to settle for milk and cookies for about the last eight weeks. Bummer dude.

Of course Wegmans is great! I love being able to find everything in here, food is nicely displayed and fresh because of the volume they sell. My only complaint is that I always seem to come home with much more than I went in for (good & bad), plus it seems to be getting more expensive…
All in all we are so lucky to have Wegmans here in their hometown!

I love Wegmans, and the location of East Ave Wegs is very convenient, but I dread having to come here with every fiber of my being.
The parking situation gets me all anxious that someone is just going to come t-bone me at any second.
The aisles are nightmare inducing for those who are claustrophobic, and when you have a bunch of people pushing carts, it is basically the same situation as the parking lot inside the store.
Instead of building Amore, they should have just made their store bigger.
I like the products, and the service is always great, but the layout makes me drive to Mt. Read or Pittsford unless I am running in for a last minute thing.

Wegman’s!
It’s like a slightly cheaper Whole Foods.
I can see why everyone from Upstate New York raves about the food bar. Compared to regular grocery stores, this is awesome.
Could use more free samples though. But I say that about every place. Ever.

I mean… it’s Wegman’s and I’m from Rochester. I wouldn’t NOT go here, but I definitely don’t strive to go to the East Ave location.
They did a major overhaul on it and it looks awfully pretty when you enter– until you try to shop. Then you’re entering into this stupid labyrinth of tight aisles and tall shelves. Two carts cannot fit comfortably down an aisle and hiiiiiiii– I’m 5’3. How, pray tell, am I going to reach the tallest of tall shelves without channeling my inner mountain goat and climbing?!
Also– parking lot. Fail. I hate you. It’s a clusterf*** of cars and my life flashes before my very eyes every time I try to enter or leave.
Pittsford or Mount Read for the win!

Wegmans of East Ave… I really hate your parking lot. Who designed that?
I do love the new face lift, but I really hoped they would fix some of the big problems of the original. Variety and space. The aisles are still too narrow and the variety is the worst.
Prepared foods: that’s a whole other story. This is where they thrive. It’s a perfect lunch spot for good food and fast. I love that they have a seating area now too.
Catering gets 5 starts from me, they make it too easy. They think of every little thing for you so you don’t forget anything. I was very impressed with that.

I love many things about Wegmans. But along with the Disney World experience and variety comes the high prices and occasionally a product thats not up to par such as this empty eclaire. The parking is a circus at all locations so be prepared for musical cars. Their pizza and convenience foods are delicious but maybe not so nutritional. Most locations are worth a visit for newbies just to check out the empire they have built and how over the top grocery shopping can be for your sences.

I love Wegmans — it is clearly the best grocery store ever (and not just because I worked at the Ptown location during high school and college). I’m a devoted customer. That being said, the East Ave location feels subpar to me. Don’t get me wrong, the remodel is beautiful, but they did NOT remodel the store with the customer volume and traffic in mind. Rather, it was built to expand and showcase their (admittedly fabulous) prepared foods selections, the self serve bars, bakery, etc. The actual aisles are still narrow and are prone to traffic jams — it’s always crowed no matter when I chose to shop! I almost always go to the Pittsford location when I need to do a larger shop — it’s overwhelming, but it’s much more spacious.
I have to agree with other reviewers that it’s irritating that the only Wegmans located in the city of Rochester has used up valuable shopping space with a restaurant — I’ve never been to Amore, but I think the space could have been much better utilized.
I still love me some Wegmans, nothing comes close, but I’ll probably stick to the Pittsford location as my primary store.

I am not a fan of this location. I feel like the rebuild was a complete waste of time. This location still doesn’t have a variety of anything and pretty much only carries what they make. The aisles are still so small you can’t fit more than one cart down it. Everyone is always cramming into corners to try and let someone else pass. They don’t carry a large amount of items which is what bothers me the most. My mousse isn’t really that rare and unpopular that it can’t be carried and everyone loves valassic pickles so why is they are hardly around. They also don’t carry their own lite bread.
Unless I need to quickly get something which they probably won’t have so I am wasting my time or getting prescriptions I don’t normally come to this location. I will go to a bigger one.

I am a native western New Yorker that moved happily to New England many years ago. While I do miss my family greatly, if someone mentions Wegmans… I do have a mournful swoon in my heart. Melodramatic, yes… but damn if it isn’t true.
Visited this one on a trip home a few weeks ago, and my partner who usually makes fun of my Wegmans obsession, admitted to me that I was right all along. I almost made him say it again on tape.
Great choices, fantastic staff. It smells and feels homey. Commitment to local products is outstanding.

Wegmans it’s probably the best place on earth. Styx dollar meals, pizza, subs, great café to sit in, above average coffee and tea. Great Wi-Fi to use if you are doing work. People that aren’t from Rochester or do not have a wegmans have a rough life.
Their parking lots are insane though, so dangerous
